Latest News, News The Washougal Police Department (WPD) and Washougal School District (WSD) are investigating a report of a gun magazine discovered this week at Jemtegaard Middle School.
According to WPD, parents discovered the magazine in the bleachers of the Jemtegaard gymnasium after a recent basketball game.
In a message sent to Jemtegaard families, school district leaders said police do not believe there is any credible threat to student or staff safety.
“The parents who reported concerns about this item let us respond quickly,” the district wrote to families this week. “We are grateful for our strong partnership with local law enforcement and appreciate their assistance with this incident. Please be assured that we prioritize student and staff safety, and that the school team is working closely with the Washougal Police Department with the assistance of district staff to ensure safety.”
