Latest News, Life, News Members of 100 Women Who Care Clark County recently presented $3,500 to Columbia Springs. Columbia Springs’ development director, Paul Morris, accepted the funds on behalf of the organization.
The local giving circle selected Columbia Springs to receive their donations at the third meeting of 2021, held via Zoom on Sept. 1, 2021. Rebecca Zent, advisory board member of the 100 Women group, nominated the organization at the September meeting. Rebecca shared how much she enjoys visiting the 100-acre urban natural site and hiking the numerous trails. Other members recalled school trips with their children. The outdoor education center offers events, programs, and workshops to teach people of all ages about stewardship and environmental science.
Camas-Washougal Community Chest and Friends of the Children-SW Washington were the other nonprofit nominees at the September meeting.
Founded in 2018, 100 Women Who Care Clark County is a giving circle that meets quarterly and has donated over $100,000 to local nonprofits since its inception. Members who attend are eligible to nominate local nonprofits to be considered for the quarterly donation. Members commit to a $100 donation to the charity voted upon by the members at each meeting.
The December meeting was held at Salud! in downtown Camas on Dec. 1, and the group hopes to continue with in-person meetings in 2022. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 23, at Grains of Wrath in Camas, with an optional social hour beginning at 5 p.m .
