City of Washougal leaders are reminding residents that only “safe and sane” fireworks are permitted to be discharged on Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s celebrations.
“(‘Safe and sane’ fireworks are) those that are neither projectile nor explosive — basically anything that doesn’t leave the ground,” a news release states. “This includes fountains, sparklers, smokeballs, snake-type fireworks, ground-spinning fireworks, pinwheels and toy-trick noisemakers.”
