City of Washougal issues fireworks guidelines

Only 'safe and sane' fireworks allowed in city limits on New Year's Eve

City of Washougal leaders are reminding residents that only “safe and sane” fireworks are permitted to be discharged on Friday, Dec. 31, for New Year’s celebrations.

“(‘Safe and sane’ fireworks are) those that are neither projectile nor explosive — basically anything that doesn’t leave the ground,” a news release states. “This includes fountains, sparklers, smokeballs, snake-type fireworks, ground-spinning fireworks, pinwheels and toy-trick noisemakers.”
