Washougal city leaders remember ‘beloved citizen, respected public servant’

Darrell Alder, who served as a volunteer firefighter, fire chief and city council member for the city of Washougal, died Dec. 5, at the age of 94.

“The city of Washougal lost a beloved citizen and respected public servant,” the city stated in a news release. “Darrell had a lifetime of service to residents of Washougal.”

Alder was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS West Virginia.  

Memorial services were held at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
