Camas football advances to 4A state tournament
The Camas football team advanced to the 4A state tournament with a 57-20 win over visiting Mount Rainier in a Week 10 loser-out playoff game on Nov. 5.
The Papermakers (5-5), seeded fifth in the 16-team tournament, will take on Puyallup at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Doc Harris Stadium in a first-round contest. The Vikings advanced with a 35-14 road win over Mount Si on Nov. 6.
Washougal girls take 3rd place at 2A state cross country meet
The Washougal girls cross country team finished third at the 2A state cross country meet, held Nov. 6 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
The Panthers were led by a pair of top-10 finishes from sophomore Elle Thomas, who completed the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 2 seconds to place sixth, and junior Sydnee Boothby, who placed ninth with a time of 19:16.90.
Sophomore Danica Stinchfield finished in 50th place (21:19.10), followed by senior Savea Mansfield (54th place, 21.24.70), junior Chloe Johnson (59th place, 21:27.60), sophomore Audrey Grice (101st place, 22:15.90) and freshman Iris Hancock (108th place, 22:22.00).
