Camas burglary suspects include 11-year-old boy

Camas police say two juveniles — including an 11-year-old boy — are among four suspects connected to a string of burglaries that damaged five Camas-Washougal businesses early Halloween morning. 

Police said this morning they intend to forward burglary and theft charges to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office against Oregon residents Arnes Johnmark, 23; Zachary Retonong, 19, and two juvenile males, ages 11 and 14. 

The suspects are accused of using rocks to smash the front doors of four downtown Camas businesses — Birth Street Lounge, Caps N’ Taps, Camas Slices and Papermaker Pride — before entering and stealing from the businesses. Police said the four suspects are also been connected to a burglary at the Washougal Food Mart. 

Surveillance video showed four individuals and “the lifted Jeep Wrangler they arrived in” during the burglary spree, Camas police said. 

On Nov. 1, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Marion County, Oregon, attempted to stop the driver of a Jeep Wrangler, leading to a pursuit that eventually ended when deputies placed spike strips in the roadway to stop the vehicle. Deputies learned the Jeep had been stolen from Tualatin, Oregon, and arrested the Jeep’s driver and five passengers. 

“A subsequent search of the Jeep revealed items that were connected to the Camas burglaries,” Camas police said. 

Oregon law enforcement officials confirmed this week that the 11-year-old suspect is the same juvenile arrested by Portland police on Oct. 22, in connection with a recent, 12-hour crime spree in Portland that included the armed robberies of at least six pedestrians and bicyclists. 

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported earlier this week that deputies also discovered drugs, cash and a semiautomatic rifle inside the stolen Jeep. 

As of Thursday, Nov. 4, all four suspects were still in custody in Oregon.
