Camas police are seeking a mail theft suspect accused of breaking into four community mailboxes in the Prune Hill neighborhood.
Police responded to a possible mail theft call on Oct. 18 after a citizen discovered dumped mail items, including six voter ballots, near Klickitat Park. Police later discovered another three voters ballots, as well as four community style mailboxes that had been pried open, with “some mail stolen from each one.”
Police say they returned all of the ballots, which were “intact but wet from the weather,” to their owners.
Police were able to locate surveillance video of the possible suspect from neighbors in the area. Police say they have not yet identified the person in the videos and that the investigation is ongoing.
“Camas Police would like to remind citizens to be vigilant and observant, especially with the upcoming holiday season,” the police stated in a news release. “Be aware of your mailbox and those of your neighbors. Immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.”
