The annual Camas Girls’ Night Out event, a fundraiser for breast cancer and ovarian cancer support and awareness, has gone online for the first time, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event, which has the theme “Protect. Prevent. Prevail.” featured daily activities on Facebook earlier in the week, and has three virtual, evening “features” set for Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 24-26.
“COVID-19 has changed the way Downtown Camas does events, and while the Camas Girls’ Night Out will look a lot different this year, it’s still an important way to raise awareness and funds for the Pink Lemonade Project and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and Southwest Washington,” the Downtown Camas Association, which organizes the event, stated in a news release.
The event also features a 50/50 raffle, with a winning prize of up to $500. Tickets for the raffle cost $5 each or five for $20.
The week’s events include a Survivor Fashion Show on Arktana’s Facebook page (facebook.com/arktanashoes/) starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24; an inspirational video appearing at 5 p.m. on the Camas Girls’ Night Out Facebook page (facebook.com/camasGNO/) at 5 p.m. Thursday Sept. 24; a pre-recorded comedy show, “GNO Shenanigans with Shannon,” hosted by Shannon Van Horn, which premieres at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 on the GNO Facebook page; and the “Not to Be Missed” celebration, also taking place on the GNO Facebook page at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
