Latest News, News A 54-year-old Washougal woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Vancouver on Feb. 18.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), a Ford Flex crossover driven by Carolyn Clark-Bennett of Washougal pulled out of the King’s Way School Parking lot onto 78th Street and made a left turn to head east. Bennett drove directly into the path of a westbound Dodge 2500 pickup, driven by Kierstan Cormican of Battle Ground. The pickup collided with the driver’s side of the Ford Flex.
Upon arrival, emergency medical services personnel attempted to resuscitate Clark-Bennett at the scene, but were unsuccessful. Cormican and three passengers in the Ford Flex were transported to area hospitals with injuries. Their conditions were unknown as of Feb. 19.
“Cormican has been very cooperative with law enforcement, and no charges have been filed,” according to a news release issued by the CCSO. “This collision is under active investigation by the CCSO Traffic Unit.”
Clark-Bennett was an associate principal at Wind River Middle School and Stevenson High School, and the Stevenson-Carson School District’s Skamania County Coalition coordinator.
“Today will be a hard day, so will tomorrow and many following,” the district posted on its Facebook page on Feb. 19. “However, we will carry one another during this difficult time.”
