Undefeated CHS football team prepares for Skyview
Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver will be rocking on Thursday, Oct. 24, when the Camas High School (CHS) football team faces Skyview High School in a game that will likely determine which team wins the 4A Greater St. Helens League championship.
The Papermakers (7-0 overall, 2-0 league), who beat Battle Ground High School 41-14 on Oct. 18, have been on a quest for redemption after failing to qualify for the 4A state tournament last season. CHS coach Jon Eagle said his players have been focused on the sometimes-tedious things it takes to become a winning team.
“Our players have bought into the process and have been cranking out great strength workouts, practices and film sessions. It all matters,” he said. “Football is about putting time in. Either you decide to do the things necessary for success or you don’t. Success is a choice.”
CHS is ranked third in the latest Associated Press 4A state poll while the Storm (5-1, 1-0) is No. 10.
Slowpitch softball playoffs underway
The Washougal High School (WHS) slowpitch softball team hosted a District 4 tournament loser-out game against Mark Morris High School on Wednesday, Oct. 23, after this paper’s print deadline.
