CHS football team set for showdown
The next stop for the Camas High School (CHS) football team’s self-proclaimed “revenge tour” will be on the home turf of perennial 3A powerhouse Bellevue High School (BHS) on Friday, Sept. 27.
The game will represent a unique chance for payback for the Papermakers, who suffered a 38-35 loss to the Wolverines last season. CHS football coach Jon Eagle said that his team learned some valuable lessons from that loss.
“We made mistakes that cost us a chance to win,” he said. “We say that winning masks problems and losing exposes problems. We learned from it and moved on. New year, new team. If you don’t learn from your mistakes, you’re doomed to repeat them.”
BHS defeated Garfield High School 28-27 on Sept. 20 to improve to 2-1.
CHS, meanwhile, moved to 3-0 after topping West Valley (Yakima) 45-14 on Sept. 20. The Papermakers jumped to a 35-0 lead after the first 12 minutes of the game. Jacques Badoloto-Birdsell rushed for 104 yards and four touchdowns, quarterback Jake Blair completed 9 of 12 passes with two touchdowns, and the Papermakers defense held the Rams to 50 yards of offense in the first half.
WHS football team to take on unbeaten squad
The Washougal High School (WHS) football team will travel north Sept. 27 to take on W.F. West High School (WFWHS) in Chehalis.
