Latest News, News Open house for community aquatics center set for Oct. 2
The city of Camas will host an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Lacamas Lake Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road, Camas, to discuss the city’s proposed Community and Aquatics Center and related athletic field improvements.
City leaders have placed a $78 million construction bond for the community center and field improvements on the November ballot, and say the Oct. 2 open house will be a chance for city staff to share developments that have happened — including the collection of citizen comments online and through written forms and emails — over the past few months.
Staff will present a brief presentation at 5:45 p.m. during the open house and be available to answer questions and hear concerns.
Lacamas Lake cleanup volunteers urged to protect against toxic algae
Camas city staff have placed signs near Lacamas Lake this week warning of a possible toxic algae bloom.
The annual Lacamas Lake cleanup is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, and residents are urged to wear protective gear, such as rubber boots and gloves, and avoid areas where the blue-green algae scum is present to protect them from possible cyanobacteria, which can cause kidney and liver damage in humans and be fatal to dogs.
