A high-speed chase that started in Oregon ended 24 miles away in Camas early Friday morning.
Oregon City Police officers located Nathanael Aaron Samuel, 26, of Sandy, Oregon, a suspect wanted for numerous felonies, driving a reportedly stolen 2001 white Dodge pickup truck northbound on Interstate 205 (I-205) near Highway 213 in Clackamas County, Oregon, around 3:40 a.m., Friday.
Oregon City officers, along with Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop Samuel, but said the suspect “accelerated at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude law enforcement (and) patrol vehicles pursued.”
The high-speed police chase crossed the I-205 bridge into Washington State and east along Highway 14 toward Camas.
Police successfully deployed spike strips to flatten the tires on the suspect’s vehicle. After hitting the spike strips and crashing the truck, Samuel allegedly fled on foot into the Camas Cemetery, where a Clackamas County deputy apprehended him.
