Camas Mayor Shannon Turk and several Camas High School (CHS) alumni will provide free breakfasts on Christmas Eve.
Turk and her daughter, Emma, and several of Emma’s former CHS classmates will serve pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, coffee and juice from 8 to 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 24, in the Camas Community Center, 1718 S.E. Seventh Ave., Camas.
Members of the East Clark Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 2444, will purchase some of the groceries and cook the breakfast. The City of Camas will donate space.
Emma Turk organized a free Christmas Eve breakfast event in 2017, as part of her senior project. Shannon Turk — then a Camas City Councilmember — suggested her daughter organize a holiday meal in 2017, after attending ReFuel Washougal’s annual Christmas Day dinner and thinking Camas could use its own version of the holiday community meal.
