The future 2,650 square-foot-home, for Army Specialist Alex Hussey and his wife Kim, is located on 5.5 acres in Washougal. Homes For Our Troops and its network of donors, supporters and corporate partners, covered the cost of the home and property, valued at $806,000.

The national nonprofit organization, Homes For Our Troops, will award a custom home to Army Specialist Alex Hussey at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 12, in the Bear Prairie area of Washougal. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.

The public is welcome to attend, meet Alex and his wife Kim, and tour the home after the ceremony.

SPC Hussey was severely injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) was set off near him in Afghanistan in August of 2012. He lost both legs and left hand, and he sustained a traumatic brain injury as a result of the blast.
