Lisa Maria (Ives) Jooste
Nov. 29, 1965 ~ Feb. 6, 2018
Lisa Maria Jooste of Camas lost her nearly 10-year courageous battle with cancer on February 6, 2018. She was 52.
Throughout her battle and multiple treatments, Lisa was the source of strength and encouragement to others, maintained her spunk, sense of humor and positive attitude, sported turbans better than anyone, and lived her life to the fullest with a desire to be “making memories” with her family. Even when she undoubtedly was suffering from discomfort, that did not stop her from participating with her children in college visits, long distance sporting events, or planning European vacations. The bronze plaque she ordered for her home, “There Will Be Miracles!” was symbolic of the way she lived her life.
Lisa was born on Nov. 29, 1965, in Medford, Oregon, to David and Joan Ives and was a graduate of Medford Senior High School. She graduated from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, with a degree in biology and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
In 1990, Lisa met Bruce Jooste at the Jacksonville Inn in Jacksonville, Oregon, and they married in 1992 moving to Portland, and then Camas.
In 1992, Lisa joined BlueCross Blue Shield of Oregon as a claims analyst. She was quickly promoted to a claims trainer, then moved into human resources in 1995 as a trainer in the Learning and Development Department, and was again promoted to consultant in the Corporate Planning and Organization Development Department. She taught numerous leadership courses, became a Continuous Quality Improvement Coach, and provided impeccable organization development consulting to her clients. She exhibited a “can do” attitude about every thorny assignment she was given and always found the right way to provide needed, insightful feedback to her clients. In 1998, after the birth of her first child, she told her employer, “I cry every time I try to find a suitable daycare place for her and need to resign.” She remained a close friend with many of her colleagues.
