Susan Lehr, Carol Alice and Kitty Hibbs pose in thier CLUE inspired costumes for last year's First Friday Clue event. This year, wear a costume and receive five extra raffle tickets to win a merchant gift basket.

The classic murder-mystery board game, CLUE, will come to life in downtown Camas for the third year, for this month’s First Friday festivities, happening from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, throughout Camas’ historic downtown.

The Downtown Camas Association (DCA) invites residents to join in on the scavenger hunt for clues, which begins at the DCA booth in front of Journey Church, 304 N.E. Fourth Ave.

This year, the clues to solve the “case of the missing cupcakes” will lie within participating merchants, including Attic Gallery, Natalia’s Cafe and The Soap Chest.

CLUE investigators can look forward to solving Morse code, word jumble, word search, rebus picture puzzle and hidden picture puzzles to receive the clue to advance.

“It’s super fun and you get to be clever,” DCA Executive Director Carrie Schulstad says. The goal for the event is for people to have fun together in downtown Camas.

This First Friday event is family friendly and a great way to spend quality time with your friends and family, Schulstad says.

Once participants have solved the mystery, they will receive a mini-cupcake from Cake Happy. Schulstad says there will be someone handing out secret passage cards that earn participants a free full-sized treat from Cake Happy.

Each location participants visit will hand out raffle tickets for a drawing to win a merchant basket from Caps N’ Taps or Tri Healing Retreat. There also will be a few merchant baskets, filled with donated goods from participating shops, up for grabs at this month’s First Friday event.

Participants can earn extra tickets by dressing as characters from the CLUE game. Plus, every $10 they spend in downtown earns them one ticket when they bring the receipts back to the DCA booth.

Journey Church is hosting a winter crafts station and lego table for children inside the church lobby.
