Heritage couldn’t withstand the Camas locomotive Oct. 12, at Doc Harris Stadium. Drake Owen was the conductor to a 63-13 victory for the Papermakers.
The Camas High School senior caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyle Allen.
“I always like playing catch with Kyle,” Owen said. “We’ve practiced a lot throughout the years. He’s been my quarterback since (Clark County Youth Football).”
Owen also shook off a defender and returned a punt for a 60-yard touchdown. He then tied up three more Timberwolves after catching a pass from Allen and took off for a 28-yard touchdown.
“Coach always says, ‘Just make one man miss and anything can happen,” Owen said.
“He just has a way of getting open, and it’s the yards after the catch that are really big,” Allen said. “That one play, he was tackled by like three guys, and somehow he got out of it. It’s pretty wild.”
The Papermakers kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Night with an 83-yard touchdown drive. Will Schultz carried the ball across the goal line after Owen completed a 38-yard catch and run. Camas got the ball right back on the 2-yard line, and Semisi Schultz took it into the end zone for a touchdown.
