The Camas School District’s new project based learning campus has a name.
Board members unanimously agreed upon “Pacific Rim” as the name for the campus, which includes a project based learning middle school and high school. The consensus came Monday, after the Board heard two reports from a campus-naming committee.
A final vote will be made at the next Board meeting on May 8, when members Julie Rotz and Connie Hennessey are present.
The PBL currently has a middle school that operates out of the former Sharp Labs of the Americas building. High school construction is expected to begin in May and be complete in fall 2018.
For the individual schools, the Camas School Board approved the names Odyssey Middle School and Discovery High School. Other suggestions included Journey, Summit and Voyage.
“I really like Pacific Rim, Odyssey and Discovery because it captures the geographical area and the journey that students are on,” said Doug Quinn, board member.
New board member Tracey Malone noted that “Pacific Rim” was her first choice as well.
