An eatery in downtown Camas has been recognized as a healthy neighborhood restaurant.

Clark County Public Health recently honored Nuestra Mesa, 228 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas, for offering healthier menu options.

The county’s Healthy Neighborhood Restaurant Program recognizes independent, locally owned restaurants that offer smaller menu portions, as well as healthy side dishes, children’s meals and beverages.

Nuestra Mesa, opened seven years ago by Todd and Tania Moravitz, serves tacos, burritos, enchiladas, soups and salads. A new brunch menu is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Other healthy, Clark County restaurant honorees include the following Vancouver eateries: 4 Caminos, 3503 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.; Dragonfly Cafe, 1300 Franklin St. and 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.; Farrar’s Bistro, 12514 N.W. 36th Ave.; La Bottega, 1905 Main St.; Linda’s Homeplate, 12200 N.E. 60th Way, Ste. A101; The Mighty Bowl food truck (at various locations throughout the county); Morelia’s Mexican Grill, 5930 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Ste. 104; Provecho, 1801 Main St.; and The Garage, 1101 W. Fourth Plain Blvd., The county program also recognized the Mill Creek Pub, at 1710 S.W. Ninth Ave., Ste. 101, in Battle Ground.

Clark County Public Health launched the Healthy Neighborhood Restaurant Program in 2012. Using grants from Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, public health staff and area restaurant owners formed an advisory committee that developed eligibility criteria and menu guidelines for participating restaurants.
