Guenther Herman Utehs
March 26, 1929 ~ August 29, 2016
Guenther Herman Utehs of Washougal died August 29, 2016, after a short illness. He was 87 years old.
Born March 16, 1929, Utehs served his country as a submariner in the U.S. Navy and his community as a longtime volunteer firefighter. His enthusiasm for logging, fishing, and boating were evident in each story he told. A love of the outdoors was only matched by his deep devotion to his late wife Bertha whom he called Bea B. They were married in 1951. The two enjoyed traveling and watching their sons, Dean and Wayne, and eventually their grandchildren, compete in sports.
Ready with a joke or words of wisdom, Utehs had a curiosity of foreign places and an appreciation of our world. He earmarked National Geographic and newspaper articles to frequently share with his family.
Known as “Pa” to his grandchildren he leaves behind Katie, Kristopher, Adam, and Anthony, great-grandchildren Faye and Otis Herman, and daughters-in-law Kelly and Amelia.
A memorial will be held Monday, September 19th at 11 a.m. at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas.
